Check what they’re federated to, and decide if those are the kind of people you want to talk to/ share your interests. There are general instances like ".ml and .world. " These instances can become overburdened. The account you have on their instance is your access to the rest of the fediverse/ lemmy.

Our active user base is somewhat small. The biggest thing is to explore, read side bar rules, and post!
