Yeah, I think one of the reasons the AI bubble hasn’t popped yet is because it’s being weaponized to remove consumer hardware from the market entirely. These companies want as much processing done on the cloud as possible so that they can control, monitor and mine data from every user.
The end result is AI games flooding the market making it harder for small devs to be discovered in a sea of hastily generated slop. Can you make a full, good game with AI? Maybe some day. But for every “good” AI game, there’s going to be 10000 shitty games that are just functional enough to trick people into paying $5.
Been thinking a lot about this. I think it’s going to be more prison labor. New crimes will be invented and punishments for existing crimes will become more severe in order to put more people behind bars.
Given the way things are going, i think that the homeless will be an initial target, but I think we’re also going to see an unprecedented criminalization of our children. Children already have fewer rights in school, so it will be easy to transfer that idea to the workplace. States like Iowa have already started rolling back child labor laws. The path ahead of the USA looks dark.

I had a discussion/argument in ~2018 with a friend who is/was very anti-trump. I brought up the dangers of ICE and how, at the time, they were the biggest sign of an overtly fascist future. He immediately handwaved it and dismissed me as crazy.
He’s got a degree in history education and was obsessed with WW2 history, so I didn’t think this would be a point of contention. But for a lot of liberals (including him) Fascists have to literally be wearing a swastika before they’re called what they are. Some won’t even acknowledge the existence of a Nazi Salute when they see one.
Even today he’s obsessed with Trump as the single anomaly in US politics and doesn’t see the bigger picture.

Trump is quite clearly a monster. Theres never been a question in anyone’s mind (other than idiots) that Trump would commit attrocities. What is striking is that Biden would act similarly to Trump, which is why people who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 were especially angry.

Unfortunately, I would guess that school shooter locations are probably the most easily recognised in the US. Uvalde has a population of ~15,000, for instance.
