I’m not sure we’re respecting extradition within the US anymore. Ross used to live in Minnesota but after he murdered someone other agents were seen moving stuff from his house and he’s been disappeared to somewhere else in the country - if Minnesota prosecutors decide the video evidence they do have is enough to convict and they bring charges, do you think the Confederate States of America will return him to face justice?
I hate living in a place the US government is invading for natural resources.

I’m trans and originally from Florida. Rick Scott getting elected in spite of the Medicare fraud was enough for me to realize Florida would continue to get worse, so I left.
Florida is a sunny place for shady people.
So I’d been considering getting a used smart watch with fitness tracking stuff and audio controls (I listen to audio books at work but have to pause fairly frequently), what should I be looking for to keep my data away from the ghouls? I know about the PineTime, how ready for less techy consumers is that right now?

I’m glad it’s not a thing here because as a “positive” incentive I feel like it drives some users to vapid karma farming over actually interesting and new content. That said, I occasionally miss it when there’s some unpleasant commenter douchenozzeling all over a thread and it’s an easy way to see if someone is always an unpleasant ass or if they’re having a bad day and otherwise make valuable contributions to Lemmy.

Following Bernie’s lead and doing town hall meetings in Republican districts, which is where all of these sound bites are coming from. And he’s not gaslighting us or sanewashing the actions of the GOP right now which is refreshing.
I’m not sure what else he could be doing right now tbh, he’s governor of Minnesota and we’re pretty gridlocked politically at the moment - nationally the only thing he’s got is being on that losing presidential ticket, his main motivation seems to be the Democrats winning elections to make people’s lives better even if he isn’t the presidential nominee in a few years.

This would also disenfranchise basically every trans person in the country, which isn’t a bug, it’s a feature. Last I heard, trans people were having trouble getting any passport under the new administration.

Space shuttle launches. I’ve seen basically every one that’s happened in my lifetime since I grew up like 30 miles from Cape Canaveral, we’d watch the initial launch on TV then run outside to watch the shuttle rise over the trees in the yard. The solid rocket boosters glow and you could see them separate and fall back down.
The first time I drove out to the coast to watch as an adult my friend and I were sitting along the intracoastal and some dolphins came up to say hi while we were waiting.
