Summary

Tulsi Gabbard, nominated by Donald Trump as director of national intelligence, faces scrutiny over her past ties with Syria’s Bashar al-Assad and alleged pro-Russia stances.

Critics, including John Bolton, questioned her foreign policy views, labeling them extreme and pro-enemy.

Gabbard defended Assad in the past, drawing backlash as Assad fled to Russia after recent events.

Despite support from some GOP senators, her Senate confirmation remains uncertain amid bipartisan criticism and Russian state media’s endorsement, which added fuel to the controversy.
