This required a few Republicans to cross party lines to get them released, something they absolutely refused to do to give the Biden administration a win. This might sound crazy, but until recently, presidents didn’t act like dictators and mostly stayed out of federal investigations because that was a massive conflict of interest. So it was nowhere near Biden’s job to do anything like that. Perhaps you’re too young to remember how this is supposed to work?
Ideally, presidents should never get involved in investigations because that’s a path to dictatorship. But here we are now, I guess.
