Michael Weiss and Marc Polymeropoulos give their takes on Trump’s latest deal with Vladimir Putin and why Trump suddenly announced an energy ceasefire.
It’s easy to see how this helps Russia, but what does it do for the US? The amounts discussed are less than 2days of US consumption. To drop prices, they need to increase refining capacity, this plan does nothing for that. Most people don’t know that the oil is flowing. Not at pre-war levels, but much better than in the Summer. The problem isn’t oil, it’s all the refineries that have been blown up in the Gulf States and Russia.
You’d think we’d be trying to help the Gulf States repair the war damage. Since theirs a chance that won’t just get bombed again. I think the reason Trump gave up on oil prices is because after the ceasefire deal with Iran collapsed, there simply wasn’t enough time to undo the damage before the midterms.
The energy ceasefire is a good idea and would save the Ukrainian people a lot of suffering and death. It would also go a long way to solve the diesel crisis. It’s just that high energy prices and Ukrainian suffering are good for Moscow.
but what does it do for the US?
Nothing really, but it makes it look like Trump is doing something. And he also makes Russia look good, which Trump likes too.
The reality however is that Russia doesn’t even have enough diesel themselves, they have to buy reined dieself from China and India and still they have a serious shortage, so diesel prices in Russia are record high, and many farmers haven’t been able to get the harvest done.So this Diesel from Russia, is in reality from China or India, the shipped from Russia to USA if that ever actually happens.
But USA is a net exporter themselves, so chances are that it will then be shipped to a fourth country.Completely moronic all the way through, and nothing more than at most a PR stunt, and probably only 1% of people know how stupid it really is!
The energy ceasefire is a good idea and would save the Ukrainian people a lot of suffering and death.
Ukraine has suggested this for years. But Putin has refused all suggestions of an energy ceasefire.
