He can’t admit to be losing. First, it would go totally against his grain: losers are always the others, he is the winner!

More importantly, he cannot admit losing, and decries all the polls as blatant lies, because this would undermine his idea that the next election will have been stolen when he loses as expected. He needs the mindset that he is currently winning to be able to claim an election loss is only due to irregularities.

Who is “we”? I’m assuming he means him and his family and other people on the take.
