I loved control and Alan wake 1 (although that was years ago and I don’t think the gameplay holds up anymore).
I’m hesitant to pick this up because I can’t imagine it maintaining the same atmosphere as control being this big third person action adventure. I imagine the cut scenes still being good but while playing it you don’t get the same SCP vibe as Control. If anyone has comments on this I’d love to be persuaded, as of right now it’s a wait until deep sale for me which I wouldn’t have believed about a Control sequel.
I’ve only played a few hours so far, but I can say that what I’ve played so far was fun as fuck lol. It’s a different play-style than the first, with this one focused on melee, but the combat is pretty fun. The atmosphere is still very weird in the best way Control started, but it is slightly less SCP like (I haven’t seen the huge amounts of reports of strange objects and such) but I’m only a few hours in so idk how the rest of the game looks.
What kind of game is this? Like an fps or?
I’d say it is more akin to Devil May Cry than any Souls game.
Melee focused souls-like, set around a secret government organisation that catalogues and controls paranatural objects, people, and events.

The first was so awesome with a game world being a claustrophobic labyrinth, female lead who shoots a gun and has unlockable abilities.
As someone who loved the original because it was essentially a third person metroid, will I like this one?
Control is one my my top ten favorite games ever and I’ve been enjoying the hell out of the new game.
