While speaking on the final night of the GOP midterm convention, Vice President JD Vance said the country was “poorer” and “dirtier” before President Donald Trump was reelected for a second term.

“We were tired of being called racists for noticing that our country was becoming dirtier and poorer, and less safe and less prosperous,” Vance said on the final day of the two-day convention in Dallas, Texas.

His sentiment appeared to reflect the administration’s efforts to combat rising immigration rates in the U.S., a key campaign point during the 2024 election. Vance himself promoted unsubstantiated claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, in September 2024, spreading misinformation about the community abducting and eating pets.

fucking actually wild to claim the country is getting dirtier when objective data shows the exact opposite. overall littering in America has dropped by more than 60% since the 1970s, with roadway and public trash dropping another 34% just in the last six years alone. American metro areas and highways are significantly cleaner today than they were a few decades ago. Municipal waste management, street sweeping, and public cleanup efforts have vastly improved at keeping actual trash off the ground.

All they can do is blame brown people for all of our problems. Like fuck, when was the last time a republican has talked about a coherent solution to a social or economical problem? people are dealing with actual fucking problems: high prices, housing costs, healthcare, wages, infrastructure, energy, and the cost of raising a family. And all the GOP cares about is Muslim and trans people

I just assumed he meant skin colour, not actually dirt/trash in the streets.

You know, the racist way to phrase it, which I simply assume this Republican is being in front of other Republicans(racists)
