As progressives nationwide seek to prove their politics can beat Republicans, California is still a battleground between the left-wing and centrist factions within the Democratic Party.
Pretty much everyone does. In fact when you focus on the actual policies of progressives and democratic socialists, the platforms are appealing to both Democrats and conservatives.
In other words, corporate Democrats aren’t going to win over voters from the Republican party, but Democratic Socialists and progressives have the potential to actually flip votes
I mean, even the right respects them more. They may hate them and want to see them all burned at the stake, but my impression is that they do in fact actually have some respect for someone with a backbone and values. That doesn’t really mean much but it’s a thought.
