So Bessent is up on his soap box announcing to the world “you’re either with us or against us” as far as sanctions are concerned with the “murderous regime” of Iran. This is coming from an administration who just a few months ago was teasing the same “murderous regime” with $300 billion of foreign investment.

Which, of course, came after Trump himself told the Iranian people to “rise up” and “help is on the way” and “the hour of your freedom is at hand” which came after the IRGC mowed down thousands of protesters. And this came after ICE worked with the IRGC to deport just about anyone they asked for. Which included homosexuals and Christians, the very people seeking asylum from said murderous regime, who are likely dead by now.

Nobody saw Bessent single out China or Russia, the two countries left actually buying Iranian oil and supporting the IRGC. It’ll be interesting to see how that pans out.

So this is becoming less and less about freedom, or oppression, or nukes, or even Israel at this point. So far – Iran got bomb delivery, the world got a destabilized Straight, some Iranian-Americans got deported (and likely the death penalty) and the US taxpayers got the bill for it all.

I haven’t felt this cheated since they passed the Big Bosomy Bill.
