The Kennedy Center’s board voted Thursday to inscribe President Donald Trump’s name into the storied building’s white marble facade and proceed with a lengthy shutdown of the venue to accommodate an extensive $250 million renovation project, according to ex officio member Rep. Joyce Beatty.
The decision comes just months after a judge ruled that separate signage bearing the president’s name had to be taken off the building’s marquee. The new inscription will test the order, though due to ongoing litigation the judge has the power to delay the projects.
The board, which Trump fired en masse last year and restocked with allies, voted to close the center’s main building, while The Reach, a newer expansion to the facility, will remain open for limited events. It will also serve as a memorial to former President John F. Kennedy.
No wonder the tarp never came down.

Nothing happening in the US is sane. This person should have been removed from power by the other branches of government a long time ago. The government is nonfunctional to the point I’m very honestly worried that the Democrats sweeping the midterms won’t make any difference.
If you read today’s news in 1978 you would not believe one word of it - we have very definitely lost the US govt as we knew it. I’d also say the public in general is also less intelligent and increasingly misinformed.

And no system or mechanism, no will or organization of citizens has rallied to stop any of it. America is in civil war right now and the citizens refuse to acknowledge it or are too occupied to be able to do anything about it.
Unfortunately a large percentage of the country is in a place where if they don’t go to work for a few days they’re homeless and have no way to buy food.
Effectively eliminating their political power which means finding people who have the means and can represent them outside the established political system. The retired and the economically well off. Or technological solutions that help reduce the cost and time of participation.
Somewhere a sitout is still complaining about a war and a womans funny laugh.
Republicans aren’t leaving. Regardless of the election outcome, they are there to stay. You just realized this?!
