        Been collecting solar panels and seed potatoes. The spuds grow decent in some laundry baskets full of layered dirt and straw.

          That’s great to hear. Potatoes can be grown almost anywhere anytime.

          Also, I don’t know if you are aware, but white rice stored in sealed mylar bags with a dessicant and oxygen absorber, has a shelf life longer than yours. Even in just regular sealed bags, rice will keep for a decade if you keep it cool and dry and away from bugs. Coconut oil is a great shelf-stable fat that will last as long as the rice. These two will keep a person for a long time, especially if you can supplement with the occasional veg and meat.

          A strike lives or dies on its stomach.

      I agree. However, many Americans only know consumerism so. They aren’t aware this is an option.
