The only reason this doesn’t already happen with Play Station and Xbox is because its illegal.

And because the operating system is proprietary. They can’t build a Playstation or Xbox without having the operating system, and their services builtin to play those games. So its not just illegal, it is technically “impossible” to have a functional alternative to their consoles.
