A suspect who shot at a White House checkpoint was killed in an exchange of fire with Secret Service agents on Saturday evening, officials have confirmed.

The BBC’s US media partner CBS has named the suspect as Nasire Best, a 21-year-old man who was known to the protection agency and had a documented history of mental health conditions.

Watching the coverage, apparently someone pulled a gun close to the White House and got taken down by Secret Service.

One bystander was also injured, but it’s unclear if it was by the perpetrator or the Secret Service.

Based on the quote from the SS, I’m guessing they shot the bystander. If they were shot by the suspect then they’d say so, this is how cops talk to the media when they fuck up to frame the conversation.
