Chow was criticized by pro-Israel Jewish groups, who said her comments were antisemitic and could encourage violent reprisals against the Jewish community.

I fear the Jewish community will one day regret using “antisemitic” as a cover for genocide or zionist colonialism. It does irreperable damage to protection from real hate crimes.

And I think the Israelis would throw Jewish diaspora communities under the bus if it gains them more support from other groups who may be antisemitic. Have a problem with atisemitism? Come to Israel.

Probably not a realistic problem in Canada for the foreseeable future but it’s much more plausible someplaces.

Her comments were not antisemitic and do not encourage violent reprisals against the Jewish community.

Her comments are just stupid for any politician. You can never give an opinion about Gaza without pissing off half the population. Who cares what the Mayor of a poorly run, overcrowded city thinks about the middle east anyway?

“Antisemitic” is when you act against people because of their (jewish) faith. Pointing out crimes against humanity has nothing to do with this.
