Let’s be real. The US govt dropped the ball on internet propaganda. They left it wide open and didn’t touch it because the people in charge were old, spoiled and out of touch. To paraphrase Andor, they got so fat and satisfied that you could walk in their house and spit on their food and they’d never even imagine it.
Now it’s fully under the purview of Russia, China, and a handful of powerful corporations. Any attempt by America to retake control will be too little too late.
I’m not sure how the law works for other countries, but don’t they want all of this for surveillance? They took something that is super popular and a lot of young people won’t want to live without, and made it so you have to provide all of your data. I thought UK especially had a lot of government cameras? Since it’s a law, I’m sure they’ll sneak in other things to it as well. This is the outside looking in, but I could be wrong.
