I’m willing to bet my ass that gamers cheering for the ubisoft layoff will be complaining about the “good old time” of AAA studio in a couple of years. Spoiler: devs are losing their jobs, not executives.

Well they aren’t cheering for the employees who are laid off. It’s more like the Luigi killing of the murderer uhc exec. The people weren’t happy the exec was dead but that the protection they felt as a CEO was broken. Same with Ubisoft they have been behaving badly for so long., EA as well, the gamers just want change for the better and layoffs signal that change

The thing is, when you side with the anti-woke crowd, you make them feel legitimate. The latest AC game wasn’t even out and gamers were crushing it because “black samurai” and “women”.

Also, people are praising Steam, who has under 100 employees, takes 30% of the price of EVERY GAMES SOLD, and doesn’t let you own you games, but bashing studios (purely greedy capitalist business too, we agree) with thousands of employees who in the end are mostly passionate devs… That doesn’t make much sens to me and sadly, in the end it’s always devs that will pay for executive’s bad decision.

And this is the sad reality of Dev will suffer over executive decisions good or bad. Despite the fact that the industry has responded over and over again, just make good games and the gamers will play. But also sadly make bad games and gamers support that too soooo?

One is releasing a good product and the other don’t? Most people care for their money spend.

They clearly don’t considering they’re not boycotting Steam which takes a much bigger cut than it needs to.

But hey, as long as it’s Gabe that has a yacht collection, it’s alright!

How Steam getting a bigger cut is impacting their products negatively? Do you really believe by decreasing the margin the game will be cheaper? Even when the same game has the same price in PS5/Xbox/Switch and PC. That’s my point people doesn’t care with things that doesn’t affect them directly, the Steam margin hurts a lot less the end user for them to care.

It’s hurting consumers because it’s less money going to the people doing the actual work to bring them a product and more money going to the boss who’s a billionaire that has a yacht collection.

Always funny to see the anti establishment crowd looking the other way when it comes to Valve.

The only reason games are so expensive is because of all the leeches above the devs, the devs could make the same amount of money they currently make while reducing a ton of overhead going to multi-millionaires and billionaires, otherwise more money could go to the devs and less to the leeches, no matter the alternative, it would be better for the consumers.

Sadly that’s only works with indie studios. Cutting 30% of steam for a Ubisoft/EA game only moves the money to Ubisoft/EA.

It’s baffling to see that it’s absolutely impossible to emit any form of criticism about steam (a soul-less dirty capitalist business like any other) without having an army of gamers ready to die to defend it. Yeah they offer a pretty good service, but taking a 30% on games is ridiculous.

In the case of the Veilguard, the devs responsible for the game divulgation lied or omitted the truth about the game, like in the case of Veilguard not importing the choices of previous games was leaked and doesn’t seem like they planned to tell the audience before the release, so I can see why some people hold a certain grudge with the Veilguard devs, but it’s stupid, it’s not their decision to do things like that.

I am rooting for the demise of Bioware/EA, they have been doing bad practices for a long long time, fuck all their execs. But with their demise will happen layoffs, the only thing to do is to support the devs with their new studio, like with the games: Stray Gods or Exodus

What gets shown to the public or not is not the decision of “the devs”, there is someone at the top calling the shots.

Yes, “gamers” are a collection of toxic mudbutt degenerates. They have gotten so bad that I’m cautious about telling anyone I enjoy video games, as I’d hate to be associated with these hateful clowns.
