Colombian President Gustavo Petro has accused Israel of interfering in the country’s presidential runoff election, claiming there is evidence that electoral systems were manipulated during the vote-counting process.
Writing on X, Petro said he had repeatedly warned about vulnerabilities in the software used by Colombian electoral authorities and pointed to what he described as suspicious changes affecting servers belonging to the National Registry Office.
“There was a change in the IP addresses of several servers belonging to the National Registry Office,” Petro wrote.
He added that the only country capable of carrying out such an operation was Israel.
Petro also said he had previously requested an independent technical audit of the software used in the election but that electoral authorities refused to authorize it.
I remember reading that the initial election had a much larger gap at 600k with Ivan Cepeda leading. That gap being narrower in the run-off at 200k with Abelardo de la Espriella in the lead is very suspicious.
The US has been interfering in elections and governments in South America for over 6 decades. None of this should be a surprise anymore.
