To me the word “patriot” used to mean someone who loves their country and fellow citizens. Would perhaps even die for them. Now when I hear that word I think of white supremacists’ hiding behind masks, just like the old (but still here) KKK.

Well, IMO, there’s no shame in loosing your guard for a second or two when you perceive a delicious smell.
That’s actually the only part of the entire thing the cop shouldn’t be ashamed of.
