Here’s the one conspiracy theory that always sticks with me because it explains everything. Putin’s number one goal for decades has been to destabilize the United States. That’s why Russian troll farms have posted things supporting both sides of decisive issues for ages. He doesn’t care about the issue, just that Americans fight over them. Trump has been mixed up with the Russian Mafia since his real estate days, and Putin has a lot of dirt on him. Since becoming president, Trump has appointed people most likely to disrupt or destroy the organizations they’re in charge of. The person who wants to get rid of the department of education gets put in charge of it. The person who doesn’t believe in science and who believes junk conspiracy theories, gets appointed health and human services. Many more examples. The goal is to make the government fall apart.
So in that context, Hegseth doing this works either way. If he gets the military brass to fall in line and go against the Constitution, Putin wins. If he tries and the military brass goes against the commander in chief, Putin still wins. The goal is destabilizing the country and taking down the government.

Why would this be for a “potential coup” and not - telling the generals they’re going to be attacking several “Democrat cities” using real military grade violence, and may receive live fire from disgruntled citizens.
…that seems like a far more likely reason for the meetings. Far far more likely.
If the meeting had already happened before Trump directed them to do so, then it would make sense as a pulse check to see if there would be any dissent. But the meeting hasn’t happened yet.
There is of course the possibility that it was supposed to be about that and someone mentioned it to Trump and he couldn’t hold it and jumped the gun without knowing why it was so important that the meeting happened first… that is unfortunately, plausible…
That’s been my theory too, invasion and occupation of all blue states. Maybe rounding up and imprisoning/killing every registered democrat and anyone else that looks woke/undesirable. I hope I’m wrong and it’s just some ego stroking exercise.

Look I’m as paranoid as the next guy about these honorable gentlemen trying something really stupid, buuuuuut they also do have absolutely massive egos to appease.
Never discredit a solid need on their behalf to occasionally put a pair of pants on, and once again, finally, absolutely, without a doubt, fully prove their manhood.
